Cast Iron
Cast iron is a group of iron-carbon alloys, typically with a carbon content greater than 2%. Carbon and silicon are the main alloy components of cast iron. Cast irons usefulness derives from its relatively low melting temperature.
Used since the 5th century BC, Cast Iron is found in applications such as oil and air pressure equipment, machine tools and general industrial machinery. It is also found in many types of valves, cylinders, winches and automotive parts and components as well as more general uses such as pulleys, bearings and shafts. Available in either Grey or Ductile, we carry a large range to support our customers’ requirements.
George Weston & Sons typically stock Grey Iron CCG, Ductile Iron CCD.
